Chemical industry tariff: Rhineland-Palatinate
Wage table, working hours and special payments for the Rhineland-Palatinate chemical-industry bargaining region.
Table of Contents
Rheinland-Pfalz and neighboring Saarland share an identical wage table in the data used here - all 13 pay groups match exactly between the two regions. That's a finding from the source itself (WSI Tarifarchiv, April 2025), not yet independently confirmed by a dedicated document that explicitly states this overlap.
Until such confirmation exists, this calculator treats both regions cautiously as "identical figures, mechanism not yet confirmed by a primary source" - unlike, say, Hamburg and Bremen in this site's own separate ERA metal-industry table, where an official document explicitly names the shared table.
Pay groups E1 through E13
E1 sits at 3,130 EUR a month, E6 (entry after completed vocational training) at 3,574 EUR, rising to 4,146 EUR after six years. The top commercial group E13 sits at 7,097 EUR.
Rheinland-Pfalz sits closer to the nationwide middle at all three reference groups (E1, E6, E13) than, say, Bayern (lower figures) or Baden-Württemberg (higher figures) - a hint at the chemical industry's economic weight along the Rhine, though it doesn't support any blanket "better or worse paid" conclusion.

What the pay groups describe
Behind every group number sits a genuine job description, consistent across all 13 regions: minimal instruction for E1, a finished vocational qualification for E6, and independent, experience-heavy commercial or technical duties for E13.
Working hours
The contractual week is 37.5 hours, with a divisor of 163.1. At 37.5 weekly hours, the table wage applies directly, with no scaling needed.
The 2026-2028 settlement
The national increase steps - unchanged through end 2026, then 2.1% in January 2027 and 2.4% in January 2028 - apply to Rheinland-Pfalz too. No region-specific published table exists for these steps; the calculator shows them as derived.
Special payments
No independently confirmed source exists for Rheinland-Pfalz's own holiday pay or annual bonus - the calculator shows Nordrhein's confirmed figures as the nationwide default pattern instead. The nationally-set Zukunftsbetrag (23% of a month's pay) applies regardless of bargaining region and is available accordingly.
Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland: a shared table
The Saar-Lor-Lux region, which Saarland belongs to both historically and economically, borders Rheinland-Pfalz directly. That both bargaining regions show identical figures in this source fits that close regional integration of the chemical industry - but doesn't replace an independent check should one region diverge from the other in future.
The annual view
Twelve monthly salaries at E6 entry level (3,574 EUR) total an annual gross of 42,888 EUR in Rheinland-Pfalz. At E13 commercial (7,097 EUR), that's 85,164 EUR a year - closer to the national middle than either extreme, Baden-Württemberg (88,716 EUR) or Bayern (80,148 EUR).
Frequently asked questions
Why are Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland identical in this calculator?
The source used (WSI Tarifarchiv) shows the same figures for both regions across all 13 pay groups - a finding from the source itself, not yet explained by a dedicated document that names a formally combined table.
What if my employer in Rheinland-Pfalz has its own separate agreement?
Then that agreement applies, not the sector-wide table shown here. Check your own classification notice or ask your HR department which agreement actually applies to you.
