Schleswig-Holstein is a self-standing chemical-industry bargaining region in this calculator, separate from the neighboring northern German regions Hamburg, Niedersachsen and Bremen. The four regions sit close together geographically but each negotiates its own wage agreement with its own figures.

The figures here come from the WSI Tarifarchiv (April 2025); no public state-registry summary like Nordrhein's exists for Schleswig-Holstein, so special payments and apprentice pay remain unconfirmed for this region.

Pay groups E1 through E13

The lowest pay group E1 sits at 3,095 EUR a month in Schleswig-Holstein - the lowest figure among the four northern neighbor regions in this calculator. E6, entry after at least three years of training, starts at 3,611 EUR and reaches 4,189 EUR after six years. The top commercial group E13 sits at 6,774 EUR.

Between E1 and E6, groups E2 through E4 are three more flat groups with no tenure steps of their own - they differ from E1 only in amount, not structure. Only from E5 onward does step progression by tenure begin, first at three and six years, then from E6 at two, four and six years.

What the pay groups describe

E1 covers tasks needing only a brief introduction. E6 marks entry after at least three years of vocational training. E13 covers independent commercial or technical work requiring extensive experience and specialist knowledge. These descriptions are nationally consistent in substance - only the euro figures are negotiated per region.

Working hours

The contractual week is 37.5 hours as in most western regions, with a divisor of 163.1. At 20 weekly hours (just over 53% of full-time), a full E1 wage of 3,095 EUR would come to roughly 1,651 EUR of part-time base pay.

The 2026-2028 settlement

The nationally-agreed increases - 2.1% on 1 January 2027, a further 2.4% on 1 January 2028, unchanged pay through end 2026 - apply to Schleswig-Holstein too. Since no region-specific published table exists for these two future steps, the calculator shows them as derived rather than confirmed.

An employer can bring either step forward by three months under the settlement, if confirmed at company level - only activated in the calculator after your explicit confirmation, never assumed.

Special payments: a nationwide pattern, not regionally confirmed

No independently confirmed source exists for Schleswig-Holstein's own holiday pay or annual bonus. The calculator therefore shows Nordrhein's directly confirmed figures (1,200 EUR holiday pay a year, 100% annual bonus) as the nationwide default pattern - every chemical-industry wage table checked so far shares the same 30-day holiday entitlement and the same 100% annual bonus, though the exact daily holiday-pay rate could differ here.

Comparing the northern German neighbor regions

Among Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Niedersachsen and Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein sits at the lower end for E1 and E6, but above Hamburg (6,740 EUR) and just below Niedersachsen and Bremen (both 7,200 EUR) at E13 (6,774 EUR). No simple north-south or city-rural rule explains the pattern - the four tables differ group by group.

The annual view

Twelve monthly salaries at E6 entry level (3,611 EUR) total an annual gross of 43,332 EUR in Schleswig-Holstein - from the table wage alone, since special payments aren't yet independently confirmed for this region. At E13 (6,774 EUR) that's 81,288 EUR a year.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the displayed holiday pay based on Nordrhein's figures?

Because no independently verified source exists for Schleswig-Holstein itself - unlike Nordrhein, where the state registry confirms the figure directly. The calculator shows Nordrhein's figure as a clearly-labelled nationwide default pattern, not a value independently confirmed for Schleswig-Holstein.

Is there a separate apprentice pay table for Schleswig-Holstein?

Probably, but not yet independently confirmed. The calculator doesn't offer an apprentice mode for this region rather than substituting another region's table.
