Your salary numbers stay in your browser

Every calculation on this site (gross-to-net, ERA bands, Werkstudent, household comparison) runs entirely client-side, in your browser. The gross salary, tax class, state, and every other figure you enter is never sent to our servers, and there is no backend or database behind this calculator at all. The only exception is if you deliberately use a page's "Copy share link" feature, which encodes your inputs into the URL itself so you can share it. That URL goes wherever you choose to send it, and opening it also sends it to our hosting provider as an ordinary part of loading the page, as described in the Hosting section below.

Controller

The party responsible for data processing on this website (the "controller" under GDPR) is:

Basaveswara Rao ChukkaAm Europakanal 36
91056 Erlangen, Germany
Email: info@zuriten.com

Full identification details, including responsibility for editorial content, are in the Legal notice.

Hosting

This site is hosted on Vercel Inc., with hosting and data processing configured to the EU region. Ordinary connection metadata (like your IP address and request headers) and the requested URL are processed by Vercel to deliver and secure the website, the same as any web host, under our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you open a shared calculator link, the requested URL also includes the inputs stored in that link, since they're part of the address itself, not something the calculator sends separately. This site runs on Vercel's Hobby plan, under which runtime request logs are retained for 1 hour before automatic deletion. Vercel Inc. is a US company; for processing that isn't confined to the EU region setting above, it relies on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum as its transfer safeguard, as set out in its Data Processing Addendum.

Website analytics without cookies

We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand overall site usage statistically. This loads a script from Ahrefs, which describes the service as cookieless and states it doesn't build individual visitor profiles; see Ahrefs' own product documentation for how it works. Because it sets no cookies, it isn't part of the consent choices below and runs regardless of them, under the same legitimate interest as the rest of this section.

Cookies we ask permission for

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you'll allow one optional service: Google Analytics. Until you allow it, no cookies are set for it and it doesn't build an individual profile of you; using Google's Consent Mode, Google may still receive a minimal, cookie-free technical signal either way, which it uses only for aggregate reporting, not to identify you. Declining or closing the banner keeps it in that minimal state. A small set of strictly necessary cookies that just remember your choice are set regardless, without requiring consent under § 25(2) TDDDG. The banner also has an advertising category for Google AdSense, which isn't in use on this site yet; see below.

  • Google Analytics (GA4): run by Google Ireland Limited, helps us understand which pages and features are actually used, so we know what to improve. Google briefly derives an approximate location (such as country or region) from your IP address and then discards it, rather than storing the IP address itself. Under our account's configured retention setting, event-level data is kept for 2 months and data tied to an identifier such as your user ID for up to 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically. Google Ireland Limited processes this data for us; where it's transferred outside the EEA, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and its EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification as transfer safeguards. You can also opt out generally with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Google AdSense: not currently set up on this website. If we introduce advertising in future, we'll update this policy and the required consent options before it goes live.

Changing your choice

You can change your choices or withdraw consent for future processing at any time using "Manage cookies" in the website footer. Your choice itself is stored in a cookie named cc_cookie, kept for up to 182 days, so it doesn't ask again on every visit.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you can at any time and free of charge:

  • ask what data we hold about you (right to access),
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data (right to rectification),
  • ask us to delete your data (right to erasure),
  • withdraw any consent you've given, for the future, at any time,
  • ask us to restrict processing, or to receive the data you've provided in a portable format, where the legal conditions for that are met,
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests, on grounds relating to your particular situation, and
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision.

Withdrawing consent doesn't affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

SSL/TLS encryption

This site is served over an encrypted https:// connection, so any request you make to load a page, including the URL of a shared calculator link, is protected in transit, as are the calculations themselves, which run only in your browser.

Contact

Questions about this policy or your data, or any other enquiry, can be sent to info@zuriten.com. When you email us, we process your email address, the details you provide and your message to handle and answer your enquiry, under our legitimate interest in responding to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep enquiry emails for up to 12 months after our last exchange with you, then delete them, unless we're legally required to keep them longer. Please send only the information needed for your enquiry, not complete tax records or copies of identity documents.
