Chemical industry tariff: Baden-Württemberg
Wage table, working hours and special payments for the Baden-Württemberg chemical-industry bargaining region.
Table of Contents
Among the eleven western German bargaining regions with a commercial/technical split in this calculator, Baden-Württemberg consistently has the highest pay figures - at E1, E6 and E13, it leads every comparison.
The figures come from the WSI Tarifarchiv (April 2025). No public state-registry publication like Nordrhein's exists for Baden-Württemberg, so special payments remain an open point here.
Pay groups E1 through E13
E1 sits at 3,166 EUR a month - the highest figure among all 13 bargaining regions in this calculator. E6, entry after completed vocational training, starts at 3,722 EUR and rises across four steps to 4,318 EUR after six years, also the highest figure of any region. The top commercial group E13 sits at 7,393 EUR.
This consistently high table reflects the economic weight of the chemical and adjacent industries in Baden-Württemberg, but it doesn't replace an individual check: whether a specific role actually follows the E6 or E9 table, or is paid above tariff, still depends on the actual employment contract.

What the pay groups describe
E1 covers tasks needing only brief introduction, E6 marks entry after at least three years of vocational training, E13 covers independent commercial or technical work with extensive experience and specialist knowledge. This structure is nationally consistent - only the euro figures are negotiated per region.
Working hours
The contractual week is 37.5 hours, with a divisor of 163.1. At 20 weekly hours (about 53.3% of full-time), a full E1 wage of 3,166 EUR would come to roughly 1,689 EUR of part-time base pay.
The 2026-2028 settlement
Baden-Württemberg follows the national settlement: unchanged pay through end December 2026, then 2.1% in January 2027 and 2.4% in January 2028. No region-specific published table exists for these steps; the calculator shows them as derived, rounded to the nearest euro.
Special payments
No independently confirmed source exists for Baden-Württemberg's own holiday pay or annual bonus, so the calculator shows Nordrhein's confirmed figures as the nationwide default pattern. The nationally-set Zukunftsbetrag (23% of a month's pay) is available regardless of bargaining region.
Baden-Württemberg compared with Bayern
Directly comparing the two southern German neighbors, Baden-Württemberg sits 86 EUR above Bayern at E1 (3,166 versus 3,080 EUR), and even 714 EUR above at E13 commercial (7,393 versus 6,679 EUR). Both states negotiate fully independent chemical-industry agreements, despite sharing a border.
The annual view
Twelve monthly salaries at E1 (3,166 EUR) total an annual gross of 37,992 EUR in Baden-Württemberg - the highest figure among all 13 regions for this group. At E6 entry level (3,722 EUR) it's 44,664 EUR, and at E13 commercial (7,393 EUR) 88,716 EUR a year - each also the highest in its comparison group.
Baden-Württemberg is therefore the only one of the 13 regions that leads at all three reference groups (E1, E6, E13) simultaneously.
Frequently asked questions
Does leading at E1, E6 and E13 mean Baden-Württemberg pays best overall?
For these three specific groups, yes - for the remaining ten groups (E2 through E5, E7 through E12), that's not automatically guaranteed and should be checked individually, even though the pattern often continues in practice.
Why does Baden-Württemberg lead so clearly over Bayern?
Both states negotiate fully independent chemical-industry agreements despite sharing a border. This calculator doesn't model the underlying economic reasons for the gap - it only reflects the outcome of each negotiation.
