How to read the table

The trainee basic amount is one figure per group. This table has no experience stages of the kind a Besoldungsordnung A uses.

Legal status

On 16 September 2026 the Landtag passed the state act adjusting pay and pensions for 2026/2027/2028. Basic pay then rises by 3.3% from 1 April 2026, by a further 2.0% from 1 March 2027 and by a further 1.0% from 1 January 2028. Trainee basic amounts rise by 60 euro, another 60 euro and 30 euro.

This page shows the table from April 2026. The later tables are not included here.

Example: A12

For A12, monthly basic pay from 1st April 2026 is 1,773.55 € at full-time. At 50 % working time that gives 886.78 €. Other pay components and taxes are not included in this example.

Who the table applies to

The table shows the monthly full-time trainee basic amount for the groups listed here. Basic pay for a Besoldungsgruppe, and pay under a collective agreement, are in their own tables.

What the table contains

The amounts are the monthly full-time trainee basic amount, gross. Supplements, allowances, taxes and contributions are not included.

Part-time

For part-time work the amount is calculated in proportion to the working-time share. For A12 that gives 1,418.84 € at 80 %, 1,330.16 € at 75 % and 886.78 € at 50 %. The calculator reduces this table amount only and does not adjust supplements or allowances automatically.

Other pay components

A pay statement contains more than basic pay. Family allowance, office and function allowances and other individual components are not in the table. Neither are deductions such as income tax and health and care insurance contributions. For this table the site shows gross basic pay and does not calculate a net figure.

Annual amount

This page shows monthly amounts, valid from 1st April 2026. Twelve times one monthly amount carries that rate across twelve months. Once the table changes during the year, that product is not the sum of the twelve actual months.

Frequently asked questions

Does the table show full basic pay for a Besoldungsgruppe?

No. It shows the trainee basic amount paid during training. Basic pay for a Besoldungsgruppe, and table pay under a collective agreement, are in their own tables.

Are the amounts gross or net?

They are gross amounts before taxes and contributions. No net figure is calculated for this table.

How do I calculate part-time pay?

Select a table value and enter your working-time share. The amount is then calculated proportionally. Supplements and allowances are not adjusted automatically.

Why is the monthly amount times 12 not always the annual amount?

Because the table can change during the year. Multiplying by twelve carries the month shown here across a full year. That is a projection.
