What Rock im Park is

Rock im Park is a three day rock and metal festival in Nuremberg, held on the Zeppelinfeld grounds on the edge of the city. According to the event data it takes place on the same weekend as Rock am Ring, which means the two festivals share much of their audience and booking pressure. The 2027 edition is listed from Friday 4 June to Sunday 6 June.

Festival goers usually stay on site in the camping areas, though many locals simply commute.

Dates for 2027: confirmed, with early line-up news

The status in our data is confirmed. The dates are 4 to 6 June 2027, a Friday to a Sunday, three days. The first headliners for 2027 had already been announced when we checked on 8 October 2026, and further acts are normally added over the following months.

Confirmed here refers to the dates. Line-up, ticket categories and camping rules can still change, so the official ticket page is the reference.

Character, sights and food

The festival grounds sit in a part of Nuremberg known for its large open spaces rather than the medieval centre. The crowd is largely young and international, a mix of camping groups and day visitors, and the atmosphere is built around the main stages, a large camping site and bars and food stalls.

As a twin of Rock am Ring in the same weekend, it often draws acts that tour both, though each year's line-up is set by the organisers.

The programme runs across several stages with music from rock, metal and related genres. Food on site covers burgers, fries, sausages, pizza and vegetarian options, and drinks are sold at bars. If you want a break from the festival, the old town of Nuremberg is a short trip away, with Franconian specialities such as Bratwurst and Lebkuchen shops, and the Documentation Centre on the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds sits close to the area.

Plan time for the Dutzendteich lake area, which is a green space near the grounds.

Getting there and where to stay

Nuremberg has a main station with long-distance trains, and the festival area is reached by public transport towards the Dutzendteich district. Festival travel details, such as shuttles, change between years, so use the festival's own travel page. Camping is the cheapest way to stay; hotels in Nuremberg and nearby Fürth are the alternative.

Book accommodation as early as possible once the date is confirmed, since this is a large event.

Public holidays and vacation days in Bavaria, 2027

The festival runs from Friday 4 June to Sunday 6 June 2027. In 2027 Easter is on 28 March, Ascension on 6 May, Whit Monday on 17 May and Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam, a Bavarian holiday) on Thursday 27 May. These all come before the festival, so none falls within it.

The weekend itself needs only the Friday: if you arrive on Friday afternoon you might take half a day or one day of leave, and if you arrive on Thursday evening to camp you would take Friday off, one vacation day in total. Fronleichnam on Thursday 27 May plus a bridge Friday 28 May gives a four day weekend a week earlier, which is useful if you plan a separate trip, but it does not affect the festival weekend.

Tips and who it suits

Rock im Park suits music fans who want a large festival without leaving a major city. Bring ear protection, sun and rain gear, and a way to charge your phone. Read the rules on bags and glass before you pack.

As the line-up is still growing, wait for the full programme before you decide on a day ticket versus a full weekend ticket.

Festival weekends in early June can bring both heat and heavy rain, so pack for either: a poncho, sun cream, water bottle if permitted, and sturdy shoes. If you camp, arrive early on the first allowed day to get a good pitch, and agree a meeting point with your group because mobile networks can be overloaded. Keep your ticket wristband on and your valuables in a small locked bag.
